Position Summary

Transportation Compliance & Safety Supervisor is responsible for Federal and State DOT regulatory compliance and DOT regulatory management oversight for each A&K Logistics facility and Valley Pet facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administer, maintain and track all driver qualification files according to Federal Motor Carrier Safety -Regulations (FMCSRs), 49 CFR Part 391 and Subpart B
  • Maintain compliance with all FMCSRs for 49 CFR Part 395, Hours of Service
  • Control, develop and implement DOT Compliance scorecard to ensure effective and sustainable implementation of Federal DOT Regulatory and A&K Logistics requirements
  • Assist in the management, implementation and maintenance of training programs (Dock to Driver) for new and existing drivers, including support in tracking hours of service in system
  • Organize the compliance of Federal Motor Carrier Administration (FMCA) DOT physicals for all applicable employees
  • Monitor and track all DOT drug/alcohol testing
  • Oversee, review and communicate fleet Violation Records monthly, for DOT inspections, traffic tickets, and citations
  • Administer mock DOT audits and regulatory reviews and assist with DOT/FMCSA compliance activities
  • Direct and audit the State Mileage and Fuel Tax Recording processes, performed by Ryder, Penske or other third party.
  • Control and process driver employment verifications, responsible for handling incoming and outgoing requests
  • Organize, review and communicate CSA scores monthly for company and drivers, summarizing reports with a process of recommending corrective and disciplinary action; challenge violations as necessary
  • Administer and monitor accident review committees, perform root cause analysis utilizing the “5 WHYs” investigation technique, identify corrective/preventative actions and communicate key learnings in the form of Safety Alerts
  • Monitor pending and upcoming changes in Federal DOT regulations and impact study to ensure A&K Logistics is prepared for future changes in law and regulations
  • Manage the download of MVR reports for regulatory purposes semi-annually and for company performance incentive bonuses
  • CMVSA (Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety Alliance) – instruct and inform drivers of what will be monitored during vehicular and driver inspections
  • Oversee and implement a process for monitoring the EZ Pass system
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

  • DOT Compliance certification, or equivalent experience is required
  • Current driver’s license
  • Current Class A or Class B with Airbrake Endorsement a plus
  • Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations, OSHA Regulations, and State and Federal traffic laws
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed
  • 10 - 20% travel based on needs of the business
  • May be on-call as business dictates
